A delicious naturally sweet apple grape smoothie. This smoothie uses grapes as a natural alternative to traditional sweeteners. If you like sweet smoothies but don’t want to feel the guilt of eating sugar, this is the smoothie for you.



Mad scientist concoction is probably the best way to describe this apple grape smoothie. Regardless of what this smoothie looks like, it’s delicious. Even though it looks like even cockroaches would not survive this drink.
It turns out that if you throw green ingredients in a blender, you might end up with a radioactive looking smoothie. Thankfully this smoothie tastes about a million times better than it looks.
For the past few weeks I have been experimenting with with using grapes as a base for smoothies. I personally prefer my smoothies on the sweet side and I used to rely on maple syrup for sweetness. When I kept track of how long it took me to go through a 1 litre bottle of maple syrup I was shocked at how much maple syrup I really consumed.
I wanted to find a solution to have my sweet smoothie fix without relying on sweeteners. For me personally I have landed on grapes as my go to fruit. For this smoothie the grapes are very pronounced as there is a lot of them. In different smoothies I find I can add ½ a cup of grapes without it really changing the flavour.
So if you prefer smoothies sweet, give grapes a try as a sweetener for your smoothies.

- 1 cup white seedless grapes
- 2 apples, seeds and core removed
- 2 cups loosely packed spinach
- 1 cup water
- Put all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
