When I was a child I was a bit unusual in my eating habits. I was the child who loved vegetables and couldn’t get enough of them. Naturally I also liked everything sweet with sugar and anything that could be deep fried. As an adult I may make slightly healthier choices though.
This spinach smoothie is one of those healthier choices. When I was a kid I hated spinach, the spinach we had was the wilted type of spinach that came out of a tin. Till this date I still can’t eat any wilted spinach or any vegetables or greens that come out of a tin. I have started liking fresh baby spinach though. After eating it by accident one time I realised that not all spinach is gross and disgusting.
Had you told me that day that I would first of all have a food blog and secondly be voluntarily blogging about a spinach smoothie I would have probably told you that you had lost your mind. But here we are, on my food blog talking about a spinach smoothie.
Now this is the first smoothie I have ever made with greens in it and I am taking this one baby step at a time. This smoothie is still mostly a fruit smoothie which just happens to have some spinach in it. If you were to serve this to anyone they would have no clue that this smoothie had spinach in them, so if you need to force feed some healthy stuff to children this would be the way to do it.
Making this smoothie has shown me that I need to be a tad more adventurous with my smoothies so hopefully I will be sharing a few more green smoothies in the near future.
