You will start to notice in my recipes that I like my food spicy. For a recipe to not have chilli or cayenne pepper in it would be unheard of on this blog.
A while ago I was introduced to Harissa Sauce, a North African chilli pepper paste. Ever since I first bought it I have been adding it to everything and anything. Stir fry’s, wraps and salads. Last weekend I decided to experiment and see if I could make my own Harissa sauce to try and cut out as many processed foods as I can.\
You will find the recipe below, give it a try for yourself and mix it through some cilantro zucchini hummus. It’s perfect to eat with celery sticks and carrots and makes a great snack.
- 1 cup dried chilies
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 4 garlic cloves
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Soak the chillies for 30 minutes in hot water.
- Put all ingredients in a food processor and process until it has turned into a paste, add water if needed.
